Art Nouveau Muse

The client wanted a Mucha panel that would sit alongside the early Renaissance religious work already on his other arm, and he specifically wanted the design to break its own frame. Willow builds the escape route into the composition. The ivy climbs out at the top, a bare foot crosses the bottom rail, and her hair carries past the right edge, so the frame reads as a window she is climbing through rather than a border drawn around her. The palette is period correct for the style, sage and dusty violet against gold. By Willow Webber.
