Renan's Artemis, the Greek goddess of the moon and the hunt, sits on the upper arm with a silver crescent moon in her golden hair. He tilted her face up toward the shoulder so the portrait follows the curve of the arm, and kept the skin in soft greys to let the gold of her hair and the piece in her hands stand out.
