Here I Am, Send Me

Taylor's collector was a military medic, and the whole chest is built around the verse he came in with. Isaiah 6:8 runs across the pec: then I heard the voice of the Lord saying, who shall I send? And I said, here I am, send me. Saint Michael drives a spear down from the collarbone with Taylor's signature peppery dotwork in a starburst radiating off his shoulder, and the spear lands on a chained demon crouched lower on the chest. Under all of it Taylor tattoos his actual kit, a helmet, an aid bag with the cross on it and a rifle laid flat, rendered as a photograph with a hard rectangular border. That border is the choice worth noticing, it stops the gear from floating in with the angel and marks it as the real part. By Taylor Phelps.
