Lucky Cat in Bloom

Luiza placed a Maneki-Neko, the Japanese lucky cat, inside a full red peony on the shoulder, with sakura branches running up toward the collarbone and down the arm. The collector asked for a blend of Art Nouveau and Japanese irezumi, so Luiza paired traditional irezumi flowers with soft, painterly blending. The sakura branches trail off in both directions to carry the piece over the curve of the shoulder and tie it into the chest. Three sessions so far. By Luiza Fortes.
