The Climbing Vine

Ethan's collector came to him to build on a piece she already had, and Ethan answers with a vine that climbs the whole forearm. He spaces three open blooms along the stem, one near the wrist, one mid-arm and one at the elbow, so the eye travels up the arm as she stands. The heart-shaped leaves turn at different angles to keep the vine from reading flat against the skin. He works it in soft stippled grey with fine line stems, which keeps the piece light on the arm. Ethan built the whole vine in one session. By Ethan Hideo.
