Totoro and the Bird of Paradise

Ethan's collector picked her favorite character and her favorite plant, and Ethan puts them together with Totoro holding the stem like an umbrella. He builds Totoro from soft stipple with no hard outline, so the fur stays gentle against the skin, then works the bird of paradise above him in saturated orange and blue. The flower carries the structure: its stem and leaves fill the space up the forearm and give the small figure something to stand under. Ethan set the pair clear of the work she already has lower on the arm. She's a returning collector, and Ethan finished the pair in one session. By Ethan Hideo.
