Unfed Hope

Jess's collector wanted a piece about giving your heart away despite the fear of rejection or death. Jess answered with a hooded reaper standing behind a masked woman who holds her own heart out from an open ribcage, set beneath a gothic arch with red spider lilies. The line What we call our despair is often only the painful eagerness of unfed hope runs down the arm in blackletter, and Jess kept everything in black and grey with red for the lilies and the heart to draw the eye to them.
