This is your mom’s tattoo studio: How Eden Body Art Studios is Elevating The Client Experience

When most people hear the words “tattoo studio,” what imagery comes to mind? Many people imagine a smoke-filled room with big, bearded artists with huge egos. The desk help is unfriendly and judgmental, and most of the clients there rode in on motorcycles and are getting skull-and-fire tattoos they picked off one of the many flash sheets on the wall. Between the buzz of tattoo machines and the metal or hip-hop music playing, it’s loud and uninviting.

That scene is one you won’t find at Eden Body Art Studios.

At Eden, there’s a much different picture when you walk in the door. The individuals at the front desk are dressed in suits, welcome you with a smile, and guide you through the check-in process. The room smells clean, and the white-and-black color scheme is complemented by greenery, giving the waiting area a sleek and modern, yet warm, look. If you didn’t know it was a tattoo studio beforehand, you might mistake it for a hair salon or day spa.

This scene is precisely the one Eden’s owners Deanna and Colton James set out to create three years ago when conceptualizing a different kind of tattoo studio. After nearly a decade in which Deanna had worked in five different studios (including many unsafe and abusive environments) she saw an opportunity to bring something new to the table, and to present a place in which the art created and the service provided mixed to provide the ultimate client experience.

“We are in the renaissance of tattooing,” Deanna always says. The quality and style of the art produced here on a daily basis did not exist anywhere 15 years ago. We’re in a revolutionary era in which tattooing is evolving drastically as an art form, and many artists are able to create priceless works of art on skin. Tattoos are starting to be viewed not as marks of counterculture collected by just bikers, sailors, and gang members, but instead, legitimate, designer pieces seen as desirable by people from all walks of life, including professional fields. The change in the quality and the perception of the industry has changed tattoos into something a wide range of people would be happy to pay thousands of dollars for. It’s the perfect time to create a studio where not only is this kind of art continuing to improve in quality, but also one that plays off this revolution by elevating the experience provided to these clients.

To Deanna, the quality of the tattoos is inherent in the business. It’s something she was able to perfect on her own while working in other studios. Her and Colton wanted to go beyond just the art, and to focus on other areas that would create a tattoo studio unlike any other in the world. Particularly, we focus on the service aspect of our client interactions. It’s our goal that every client has an incredible experience with our studio from the moment they send an inquiry through when their tattoo is done healing. We do a very thorough job of making sure the client is educated and comfortable on the tattoo they’re getting, because it’s a very serious and permanent investment. At some other studios, potential clients are lucky to even get a response from the team/artist. At our studio, we aim to get back to our clients within a few business hours, at the very most.

We’re different in a lot of other ways as well, but to be frank, these ways didn’t come up too much when Deanna and Colton were brainstorming the concept of Eden. Some of these include:

  • Creating a safe and positive space for clients and employees

  • Empowering female tattoo artists

  • Studio cleanliness and sanitation procedures

  • Reasonable hours for artists and clients

  • Being accessible for each and every tattoo client and potential client

These differences aren’t intentional or to keep up with any trends. These are inherent. They’re in our DNA.

In the short amount of time we’ve been open, we’ve received overwhelmingly positive responses from clients who have been through the tattoo process. Many of them come back to their artist multiple times, or even collect from other artists in the studio. We can confidently say the client experience we set out to create is something we’ve achieved! But we’re nowhere close to done. Our continuing plan is to expand the services we offer to clients, like offering a wider range of tattoo styles by bring in resident and guest artists, expanding our piercing options and jewelry selections, offering laser tattoo removal, opening more studios to house more artists, and bring the studio to a wider audience by opening more locations in Dallas, in Texas, and across the country. We want to do all this while still providing the elevated service we’ve strived to provide since day 1. We believe we’ve created something really unique and special here, and we want as many people to experience it as possible!

With an experience like this, you have to see it for yourself. If we haven’t had the pleasure of having you as a client yet, stop by to see the studio, or give us a call. For booking inquiries, you can also fill out a form on our website. We look forward to showing you what we’re all about, and seeing you back in the studio to add pieces of art.
