Crimson Chrysanthemum

Luiza designed a large orange chrysanthemum for the chest, part of a project that also carries a lucky cat and peony on the shoulder. The collector asked for a blend of Art Nouveau and Japanese irezumi, and Luiza rendered the petals in soft, painterly layers that deepen to crimson at the base of the bloom. Sakura branches from the shoulder piece reach across toward the chest so both sections read as one composition. Three sessions so far. By Luiza Fortes.
