Gnome and Fairy

The client asked for a gnome and a fairy dancing together in a forest, in a gold frame, and left the staging to Willow. A beautiful touch to the composition is the light source: a lantern hangs at the gnome's shoulder and everything close to it goes warm, while the woods behind them fall away into violet with a crescent moon and a scatter of fireflies. The two figures are caught mid step with their hands joined, so the scene has a direction of travel. The frame is drawn as tarnished copper rather than bright gold, which sits better against the cool forest than a yellow frame would have. By Willow Webber.
