Ink and Firework

Ethan's collector asked for a fountain pen and a firework, and Ethan resolves them into a single idea: the pen bursts where the nib meets the page. He draws the pen in tight black and grey and sets it on a diagonal so it runs with the leg. The radiating lines above the cap read as the firework, and the purple splatter below works twice over, as spilled ink and as the burst. He leaves the torn page pale and unshaded so the pen holds the darkest weight in the piece. Ethan finished it in a single session. By Ethan Hideo.
