Tattoo by Mark Wade

The client got her first tattoo at sixty-five. She is sixty-eight now, and when she booked this she described what tattoos mean to her in one word: freedom. She asked for florals, bright and bold, and left the colors to Mark. The sunflower is built to be read from across a room, with the seed head worked in enough detail to hold up close, and a bee resting on its lower edge. The forget-me-nots are the smart part. That particular blue sits opposite the sunflower's yellow, so a handful of very small flowers is enough to make the whole shoulder brighter. By Mark Wade.
