Stained Glass Beetle

A cover-up, and the design had to do two jobs at once: read as a clean stained glass panel and bury what was underneath it. Willow uses the piece to do both. The heavy dark outlines that make stained glass look like stained glass are also what hide the old tattoo, and the deep red field behind the beetle gives her enough saturation to work over. The wing cases are the best part, cut into green facets that catch light the way real glass does. Tulips break out past the oval at the top and bottom so the piece does not sit on the leg like a sticker. By Willow Webber.
