The Apothecary's Garden

Every flower here stands for a character. Cass's collector picked them off a list drawn from the manga she loves, wood sorrel, balsam, peony, balloon flower, bergenia, lily of the valley, orchid and a few more, and left it to Cass to choose which ones actually made the piece. Cass designed the flowers to read as one bouquet instead of a roster: deep red orchids at the top of the thigh, a run of small yellow and orange flowers narrowing through the knee, and a pink peony opening below it. The narrow point lands right on the kneecap, which is the part of a leg that moves most and the part you want carrying the least ink. This has taken two sessions, and this is the start of a full leg sleeve. By Cass Fuller.
