The Great Wave

Nadia's collector asked for Hokusai's wave set in a frame, with the spray allowed to break out of it. Nadia builds the panel vertically on the side of the calf so it reads the long way as he stands, then lets the foam cross the border on the right so the image never sits boxed in. She warms the sky to orange behind the crest, which lifts Fuji clear of the blue and gives the small mountain somewhere to sit. The panel is worked at a scale that keeps every fingertip of foam sharp. This has taken two sessions. By Nadia Most.
