The Unicorn

This is the one day version of Willow's unicorn design, booked by a client who wanted the woman embracing the unicorn and the greenery around it. Fitting a full storybook scene into a single session means cutting everything that is not the moment, so the landscape is reduced to a few trees and the weight of the piece sits on the two faces leaning together. The frame is drawn as carved gilt wood with a shell at the crown and the foot, which places the image in the past without a single other historical cue. Anemones spill over the edge in three places to keep it from looking like a picture pasted on the arm. By Willow Webber.
