Tolga's work comes out of mythology, Renaissance sculpture, and historical artwork. Marble faces, gods, saints, animals. He treats a statue the way most artists treat a portrait, so the finished piece reads as carved rather than drawn. You bring the subject, he builds everything around it.
He starts with the focal subject, then works supporting elements out from it. Placement drives the design, so he'll often ask to let a piece run past the area you first had in mind when the flow calls for it. Every design is original, drawn from references rather than copied from another artist's tattoo.
Most of his pieces carry a geometric background behind the figure: arcs, grids, sacred geometry. It's what gives the work depth and keeps a large piece from going flat.
Sleeves, back pieces, leg panels. He's built for multi-session projects and prefers consecutive days on the big ones, up to four days in a row with the same client, then about two weeks of healing before the next block.
