What to Expect With Your First Tattoo

With the tattoo industry progressing so quickly in the quality of art and also being more widely accepted, more people than ever are getting their first tattoos. Many of our clients here at Eden are getting their first tattoo, or their first serious designer tattoo! We are here to help and guide you completely through the process. Here’s how to prepare for your first appointment at Eden:

Before you inquire with us

  • Scroll through our portfolio and find an artist or style you like. We always tag the artist, so you’ll be able to know whose art style works best for you.

  • Find an artist that specializes in a style you’d want on yourself. Dive deeper into their individual portfolio.

  • Look through the subject matters the artist normally tattoos. Our artists accept the projects that align with their creative preferences, so if you’re asking for a style and subject matter you already see in an artist portfolio, there’s a good chance of your tattoo getting accepted!

  • Get a rough estimate of where you’re wanting to put the tattoo and how much space you’ll be comfortable taking up. Your artist will guide you on specific size and placement.

  • Understand that a serious piece of art can be a serious financial commitment! Budget accordingly. We always recommend waiting until you’re ready to get your perfect piece rather than cutting corners or compromising because of your budget. Tattoos are very permanent investments!

  • Our staff will guide you through the entire booking process, and will ask for some reference photos of the subject matter you want and existing tattoos similar to the style you want. These can be tattoos your selected artist has already done!

On the day of your appointment

  • Your artist will consult with you on the design before the actual tattoo process begins.

  • You are of course welcome to make changes to whatever design your artist presents to you. However, we always recommend giving the artist as much creative freedom as possible. Part of the cost involved with a designer tattoo artist is trusting them to use their years of expertise to give you the best tattoo possible! You and your artist have the same goal of making a piece you’re happy to wear and your artist is happy to have created

  • Tattooing is a painful process, but our studio staff takes extra care to make sure you’re comfortable sitting all day.

What to do after your tattoo

  • We take cash, all kinds of cards, and Apple/Google/Samsung pay.

  • There is no set amount we recommend tipping (if at all), but we find most clients are overjoyed with their experience and usually tip 20% of the total cost of the tattoo.

  • Aftercare instructions are displayed on the inside of each artist's cabinet. We highly recommend taking a picture so you don’t forget how to care for your tattoo, but if you have any questions, we are happy to answer them for you!

Because tattoos are permanent, the memory each client has of the day they got each one lasts forever. At Eden, we do everything we can to ensure that memory is a wonderful one. We love when our clients come back to get tattooed by the same artist or other artists at our studio because they know with 100% certainty they will have a great experience!
