Freeness

The two dancing figures are the collector's daughters, and the freedom Cass wanted them to carry is why she set them mid-stride rather than posed. She framed the forest glade in black and grey florals so the color inside the scene reads as its own world, and the pale peony at the shoulder and the lily below it hold the composition to the curve of the arm. The butterflies were kept small and bright to carry the eye down through the green. Three sessions, February 2025. By Cass Fuller.
